Understanding the Roles of Foundation of Defense of Democracies
It would be very difficult to make any development if there are two or more parties at war. This is a realization that has led to increased campaigns against terror and any acts that lead to destabilization of world peace. The foundation for the defense of democracies is one of the most prominent foundations when it comes national security as well as observation of foreign policies. It is mainly focused on ensuring that no nation, group or individual carries out acts of terror on other people or nations. Let us look at a few things about the foundation.
There are a series of things that need to be done in order to ensure that the goals of this foundation have been achieved. The awareness against terror can be created through several things and among the most common is the use of meetings and seminars. The meetings or seminars are held for people who have a stake to play in the maintenance of peace and such include military personnel, diplomats and even the man in the street. Other means of creating awareness such as publication of books and television shows can also be used. A number of things are discussed in these awareness programs.
One of the most key areas of any terrorist groups is financing. A terrorist group can be able to do its activities under any conditions if they have adequate financing. Upon being exposed, the donors of terror groups will make them shy off and as a results the activities are crippled. The sources of funding for the terrorist groups are researched on by the foundation. The next thing, once the sources of funding for the terrorists are identified, is creation of strategies on how to cut these sources from funding the groups. Example of some of the ways of cutting funds from the terror groups include use of sanctions or preventing the financing and supporting regimes from reaching the groups either through severe surveillance or arrests.
Something else that is done by the foundation of defense of democracies is giving information to the general public concerning real activities being done in the war against terror. The foundation for defense of democracies is also engaged in other activities such as informing the public about real occurrences of war against terror. One of the biggest projects that the foundation has embarked on since the twin tower bombings is reporting to the public how the war against terrorist groups has been going on in the respective countries.
After the twin tower bombings, a lot of military action was taken to the countries believed to be supporting the terror groups as well as where the terrorists are said to be coming from. Very little about the battlefield will be known by an ordinary citizen. This is what prompted the reporting of these events by the foundation. In doing this, the citizen at home will understand how much progress is being made.
